About the association
The Chemisch Dispuut Leiden is the study association for the bachelor Molecular Science & Technology at Leiden University and TU Delft and the master Chemistry at Leiden University. It was founded on the 20th of May 1926 and has about 800 members in 2021. Every year the CDL organises a lot of activities such as excursions, lectures, parties, drinks and study trips. All these events create a close bond between students and they can take a look at the world of chemistry.
There are a number of activities especially organised for our first year bachelor students. On our freshmen weekend the students immediately get acquainted with their classmates and older students. In addition, numerous activities are organised throughout the year, such as the activities of the First Year Committee (EC), study trips abroad and the senior year’s weekend. In addition to our 800 members, the CDL also has 5 honorary members!
CDL Activities
So, how can you keep track of all our activities? One way is to check our website regularly and our Instagram! In addition, every two weeks an activity e-mail is sent to all members of the CDL. Our magazine, Chimica Acta Lugduni, or Chimica, appears three times throughout the year. This magazine contains not only an overview of the activities, but also a range of fun and educational information written by students and can also be found on our website as a digital version!
The CDL boardroom
The CDL boardroom, or ‘hok’, is located in the hallway between the Huygens Building and the new Gorlaeus Building. Apart from it being the place where the board works for the association, it is also a very fun place. Visit the boardroom for a free cup of tea or coffee with your friends and sign up for upcoming events. The CDL boardroom is opened every day from 09:00 h till 17:00 h.
Foobar Drinks
Did you have a busy week or are you tired of standing in the lab all day? Don’t forget to come by our Thursday Drinks in the Foobar. Every Thursday the Foobar is opened for students and staff members of the faculty from 17:00 h till 23:00 h. There is always a wide variety of craft beers and a beer only costs €1,10!
