Honorary Members of the Chemisch Dispuut Leiden
The Chemisch Dispuut Leiden knows 6 honorary members. At this moment the following people are an honorable member of the CDL:
T. van Heijningen
Prof. dr. J.J.C. Mulder (1934 - 2021)
'I am an honorary member since 1996-1997 and I think I mostly became involved with the CDL because of my involvement with the changes in the study programme. After my chemistry studies, I did my promotion research with Prof. L.J. Oosterhoff. After I got my promotion and my post doc year in the U.S.A., I became a programme director. Education, especially the lectures about the 'Atoombouw en Chemische Binding' for the first year students, was an challenging responsibility. Asked to be an honorary member by Regenbogen (1996-1997).
G.W.M. Brouwer-Zandbergen
Retired coördinating technical education assistant at the Leiden Institute of Chemistry. ‘I mainly help with the practical matters. I work at the Gorlaeus building and you know to find me for anything and everything! I didn’t study chemistry. After I graduated high school, I started working at Skikkens (Akzo Nobel) and during the evenings I was busy studying for my MBO degree. After that I took care of the kids and since 1998 I have started working als a TOA. I see the board members at least once a week. My first thought, when I think of the CDL is: I don’t know if I can say this, but they feel like my children.'
Prof. dr. J. Reedijk
‘After I became a CDL member in my first year, I stayed a member till I graduated. After my promotion and lab leadership in Leiden, I went to the TU Delft, to return to Leiden in 1979 to accept a spot … Leerstoel? During the time that I was sub faculty chair and after that scientific director at the LIC, I had annual contact about a lot of business such as exams, colleague evaluations, lectures for parents of the CDL members, foreign excursions and the Chimica.’ Asked to be an honorary member by Pur Sang (2013-2014).
R. van Waarde
‘Throughout the freshmen introduction weekend I really got the hang of the association. Together with two other students from my year, I organised a sailing camp in Heeg. Even though I’ve always found chemistry a beautiful subject, I proceeded with theology after my master. A weird switch? The theology is about interactions and processes as well, but between people.’ Asked to be an honorary member by Pur Sang (2013-2014).
Prof. dr. E. Bouwman
‘In my function as educational director of the MSc Chemistry I’ve had the pleasure to be in contact with board members of the CDL and members of the MaCo (master committee) on a regular basis. I really appreciate that the CDL board members are so involved with education and regularly come with suggestions and new ideas for improvement and activities.’ Asked to be an honorary member by Exhilarate (2019-2020).
