Programme Committees
The Programme Committees (opleidingscommissies/PC) of MST and Chemistry are official committees of the faculty. These committees function as a form of quality assurance for their respective programme and are composed of an equal number of students and teachers. At the start of each year, a survey is held among first-year students to see who is interested in joining the PC. The teachers of each committee will then interview all candidates to select two new members.
Bachelor MST: The programme director and coordinator, together with the commissioners of education of CDL and TG, are present during all meetings of the PC of MST, but they do not have the right to vote for curriculum changes.
Master Chemistry: The programme director, together with the commissioners of (master) education of CDL and S.V. LIFE, is present during all meetings of the PC of Chemistry, but they do not have the right to vote for curriculum changes.
Both PCs meet twice every period.
Information Sources
To perform their task, the committees must gather relevant information. The most important information sources are listed below:
Information Sources |
Description |
Evasys Evaluation Forms |
Students receive these forms after each exam they have done. They form the backbone of all education evaluations. It is therefore very important that every student fills in these forms. |
Lecture Response Committees (CRC's) | This is a separate committee for MST led by TG and CDL and its members can anonymously give feedback without the presence of teachers. The commissioners of TG and CDL compose a rapport after each meeting (twice each period) and share this with the programme team. |
All students are of course free to give feedback directly to the PCs. You can see their e-mail addresses below. | |
Word-of-mouth | Most feedback is not given directly in the form of an e-mail or an evaluation form, but by word-of-mouth. The PC can pick up any signals and discuss them if necessary. |
If imperfections are found in the current education after this discussion, teachers and their curricula are adjusted where necessary. In the meeting at the end of the term, the OC checks, based on the final evaluation, to what extend the feedback has been implemented by the lecturers. This way of 'monitoring-adjusting-checking' allows the OC to garantee the quality of education.
